Power, LED & Sleep
- Differentiate between power-on, power-off, and low-voltage LED indicators.
- Determine the receiver shutdown behavior during idle periods versus wired pendant operation.
- Verify the minimum operating voltage requirements for the wireless receiver.
- Digital Multimeter — Measure receiver input voltage to confirm levels are above the 9 V threshold.
- Power Supply — Provide consistent voltage to test LED flash patterns and receiver responsiveness.
- Wired Pendant — Verify Output 2 functionality while the receiver is in shutdown mode.
- Stopwatch — Monitor the 20-minute idle period to confirm automatic shutdown timing.
Press Up and Dn together to turn the receiver ON or OFF. LED off = receiver OFF.
Green flash every 3 seconds = power above 9 V. Red flash every 3 seconds = below 9 V.
The receiver shuts down after 20 minutes idle. The wired pendant (Output 2) stays active in shutdown.
How It Works
LED Status Communication
The LED provides visual feedback on system state. A green flash indicates sufficient power (above 9 V), while a red flash warns of low power (below 9 V). If the LED is off, the receiver is not powered on.
Manual Power Control
The receiver is toggled between ON and OFF states by pressing the Up and Dn buttons simultaneously. This manual control overrides the automatic idle states for storage or service.
Power Management and Sleep Cycles
To preserve battery, the receiver enters a shutdown state after 20 minutes of inactivity. However, the wired pendant connection remains active on Output 2 even when the wireless receiver has shut down.
Diagnostic Chart
| Symptom | Check | Spec / Expected | Likely cause & fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| LED is completely dark. | Press the Up and Dn buttons simultaneously to toggle power. | Per the applicable manual | The receiver is currently turned OFF. Basis: KTI Wireless Instruction Manual (P/N KWR-003) |
| LED flashes red every 3 seconds. | Measure the voltage at the receiver power input. | Below 9 V | Power supply has dropped below the minimum operating threshold. Basis: KTI Wireless Instruction Manual (P/N KWR-003) |
| Wireless functions stop working after 20 minutes of inactivity. | Verify if the system was idle and check for a Green or Red flash. | 20 minutes idle | The receiver has automatically shut down to conserve power. Basis: KTI Wireless Instruction Manual (P/N KWR-003) |
| Wireless receiver fails to operate despite having power. | Measure voltage to see if it meets the minimum operational requirement. | 9 volts | The wireless receiver may not operate below 9 volts. Basis: KTI Wireless Instruction Manual (P/N KWR-003) |
| Wireless receiver is shut down, but the wired pendant still functions. | Confirm pendant is connected to Output 2. | Output 2 stays active | Normal operation; Output 2 remains active during receiver shutdown. Basis: KTI Wireless Instruction Manual (P/N KWR-003) |

Common Bay Mistakes
- ✕ Assuming a dark LED means a failed unit before pressing Up/Dn buttons.
- ✕ Mistaking a red flash for a hardware failure rather than a low-voltage warning.
- ✕ Expecting the wired pendant to shut down simultaneously with the wireless receiver.
- ✕ Operating the system at exactly 9 V without accounting for the wireless operational limit.
- ✕ Confusing the 3-second flash interval for an error code instead of a power status heartbeat.
